What is PRINCE2®?

PRINCE2® stands for PRojects IN Controlled Environments, Version 2.

Projects bring together resources, skills, technology and ideas to achieve business objectives and deliver business benefits. Good project management helps to ensure that risks are identified and managed appropriately, and objectives and benefits are achieved within budget, within time and to the required quality.

PRINCE2® is recognised as a world-class international product and is the standard method for project management, not least because it embodies many years of good practice in project management and provides a flexible and adaptable approach to suit all projects. It is a project management method designed to provide a framework covering the wide variety of disciplines and activities required within a project. The focus throughout PRINCE2® is on the Business Case, which describes the rationale and business justification for the project. The Business Case drives all the project management processes, from initial project set-up through to successful finish.

Why do organisations adopt PRINCE2®?

Many organisations are employing the skills and services of external suppliers, working alongside in-house resources, to enhance their ability to deliver successful projects. PRINCE2® provides a mechanism to harness these resources and enable the team to integrate and work together effectively on a project.

Participants will have a working knowledge of the PRINCE2® methodology, how to implement, assess, cost and deliver project management outcomes. As a result, candidates will be certified as competent to apply it in real world project driven environments or organisations. Successful completion of the course (and exam) allows graduates to be inducted into the PRINCE2® Community of Practice (CoP).

PRINCE2® Course Requirements

PRINCE2® certifications bring valuable, measurable rewards to Project Managers, network professionals, their managers, and the organizations that employ them. PRINCE2® offers two levels of general certification; Foundations and Practitioner.

The range of PRINCE2® courses at EXCOM includes:

• PRINCE2® for Project Management Foundation: The first step in PRINCE2 certification begins at this level. The exam is conducted at the completion of the course.
• PRINCE2® for Project Management Practitioner: This level of certification is achieved by attending a two day course. The exam is conducted at the completion of the course.

Who can take part in PRINCE2® training?

PRINCE2® methodology provides company best practices when planning, scoping and delivering Project Management solutions. The scope for this kind of skill-set can primarily be found in large organisations, enterprise, government departments or consortiums focusing on delivering on projects within a specific and timely manner according to the scope and cost. Project Managers and organisations that are either undertaking or contemplating a large scale project are the key audience.

Enhance what you already know

To prepare for PRINCE2® testing, candidates will need to first obtain the required level of knowledge. This can be achieved through attending a training program. This approach is highly recommended for anyone who is not already very experienced or does not have access to suitable equipment and facilities to undertake their preparation.

All EXCOM Education training includes additional services designed to ensure effective preparation for certification tests, such as access to lab facilities for practice, unlimited post-course technical support, and personalised advice and guidance regards the individual candidate's progress.

Testing

PRINCE2® Certification examinations are conducted in the classroom at the end of the training course. Revision material and mock examinations are available to help those who want to delay the exam. Group bookings for in-class examinations can also be made available on request.
