BGP: Configuring BGP on Cisco Routers

Course Length: 5 days.

Overview
This course provides students with the in-depth knowledge of BGP, the routing protocol that is one of the underlying foundations of the Internet and new-world technologies such as Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS). This curriculum covers the theory of BGP, configuration of BGP on IOS routers, detailed troubleshooting information and hands-on exercises that provide students with the skills needed to configure and troubleshoot BGP networks After course completion, students should be able to configure, monitor and troubleshoot basic BGP to enable interdomain routing when given a network scenario. In addition, students are expected to be able to use BGP policy controls to influence the route selection process with minimal impact on BGP route processing in situations where connections to multiple ISPs must be supported. Some of the course objectives also include implementing the correct BGP configuration to successfully connect a network to the Internet, and be able to use BGP attributes to influence the route selection process. Additionally, students are expected to enable the provider network to behave as a transit autonomous system, identify common BGP scaling issues and enable route reflection and confederations as possible solutions to these issues. Lastly, students will also be able to use available BGP tools and features to optimise the scalability of the BGP routing protocol, when given a typical BGP network.
