Course Length: 5 days. Overview Students will gain the basic knowledge about the layers of the OSI model and the features and functions of the components that make up a network. Participants will also gain the skills needed to install, configure, and troubleshoot basic networking hardware peripherals and protocols. This course covers topics on media and topologies, protocols and standards, network implementation and support. Students will be able to identify computer input and output devices, identify the hardware components of a computer, describe the fundamentals of networking, select network media and topology, describe network standards, describe the TCP/IP protocol suite, implement TCP/IP address scheme, describe network protocols, implement remote access, implement data security, describe WAN technologies, describe and configure operating systems, identify network security methods, perform network support and troubleshoot network problems. Although this course covers Novell technology, the implementation of these network concepts can be applied to other technologies. Audience Those people new to computer technology and networking and seeking to be employed as a network support technician or those seeking Network+ certification. Outline
Prerequisites No previous experience or knowledge on networking topics required. Its recommended that attendees have an A+ certification or equivalent experience prior to taking the course. |
