Course Length: 3 days.
Overview This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to develop data-access application using the Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework and Visual Studio 2005. Students will learn how to access and update data in a database using ADO.NET 2.0, and how to create, read and write XML. Students will become skilled in connecting to databases, reading data as well as querying and updating databases using commands. Furthermore, they will become trained in performing transactional operations as well as disconnected operations using Visual Studio 2005 wizards and even XML operations on disconnected data. Finally, students will be able to process XML data using the Document Object Model (DOM).
Audience The course is intended for corporate and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Application Developers who have a desire to learn more about specific technology areas in distributed application development.
Outline
Prerequisites Before attending this course, students must be able to manage a solution environment using the Visual Studio 2005 integrated development environment IDE and tools. They will also need to understand the .NET Framework 2.0 and the Common Language Runtime and be able to program an application using a .NET Framework 2.0 compliant language. Furthermore, students must know how to make assemblies available to other applications and have a good understanding of basic relational database concepts. In addition, students need to be able to use basic SQL commands, explain XML schema concepts and have a good understanding of XML declaration, elements, attributes and namespaces. |
