Aims

The aim of this course is to provide professionals in the IT industry with an advanced course of study in designing, planning, and implementing enterprise level security as part of a secure computing environment and integrates industry certification in these fields.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, graduates will possess:

§  Advanced skills in the design, implementation and management of secure computer networks;

§  Check Point Security Administrator (CCSA)

§  Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE)

§  Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)

§  Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Security+

§  Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

§  Higher order network design knowledge and skills;

§  An informed and reflexive perspective on IT Security issues;

§  Problem-solving skills and methodologies when troubleshooting and documenting complex computing problems;

§  The ability to analyse complex client business security requirements and select appropriate solutions, and

§  Skills in the development of leading edge security solutions that meets customer business objectives for functionality and performance.

Course Structure

The Course consists of 12 subjects with a total value of 96 points. For students that do not qualify for any credit, the recommended duration to complete the Masters Degrees is 2 years. There are 3 trimesters per year and we recommend a commitment of 2 subjects per trimester.

Graduate Certificate in Information Systems Security

The Master of Information Systems Security is an articulated course that incorporates the Graduate Certificate in Information Systems Security.  The certificate can be stand alone or, upon successful completion, students may proceed (with full credit) into the Master of Information Systems Security.  To graduate with the Graduate Certificate, students must satisfactorily complete 4 subjects, which include two industry certification subjects.

Important Note

Subjects designated as credit only are only available for credit and are not available for study via Distance education with Charles Sturt University. Credit for these subjects will be awarded on proof that the students have passed the corresponding industry certification exam.

Academic credit is available to students who can provide proof that they have passed relevant industry examinations.

NOTE: The actual level of credit awarded will be confirmed upon acceptance into the Masters Degree.
